About Nearbyly

Nearbyly shows you what is actually around a place — parks, museums, historic sites, local kitchens, coffee shops, markets, trails and the odd roadside curiosity — sorted by distance from wherever you are or wherever you are headed.

It started in Eastern Kentucky, where searching for something to do usually turns up the same handful of chain results, and grew into a worldwide explorer.

Places come primarily from OpenStreetMap, the open map database maintained by volunteers worldwide, supplemented by Wikipedia and Wikidata for background on notable sites. If a business is missing, it is usually missing from OpenStreetMap — anyone can add it there for free.

Our City Guides are written and reviewed by hand, not generated from an API dump. We check named places against public sources before publishing, and we would rather leave something out than print a detail we cannot stand behind. Details still change, so check ahead before making a long drive.

Nearbyly is free to use. It is supported by advertising and by Explorer+, an optional membership that unlocks deeper local research tools. We do not sell your personal data — see our Privacy Policy.
